$5.4M gift to strengthen Tech & Society Initiative, Institute for Women, Peace, and Security

Problem:

A Georgetown family made a major gift to build a Tech & Society Initiative and support the Women, Peace, and Security program, which necessitated a nuanced gift announcement story for Georgetown Giving News.

Action:

  1. I leveraged my knowledge of Georgetown’s Tech & Society initiative as a student in a member program to impart the long-term value of understanding how technological and social systems interact.

  2. I drew from my studies and my experience at a government policy nonprofit to convey the importance of diverse perspectives among policymakers.

  3. I used keen interview skills to accurately and sensitively discover the donors’ connections to the two gift areas, and find a connector through interdisciplinary thinking.

Result:

The donor family was incredibly pleased with the story, which will bolster their relationship with Georgetown University.
